Mother With COVID-19 Gives Birth To Twins Prematurely, Now Father Needs Help With Other Three Children

The long-haul driver had to stop working and launched a GoFundMe for bills.

Jasmine and Steven Logan have had several highs and lows this year. And now they are forced to deal with a new challenge.

One of the highs that the Logan family experienced was anticipating the expansion of their family. They already had a six year old and a set of two-year-old twins. On November 17, the couple gave birth to an additional set of twins, upping the number of children in their home to five. As mom battles COVID-19, the new twins arrived a month premature. Doctors believed that having the children early would help her fight the disease.

According to an interview with Fox2Detroit, Steven said, “This was supposed to be our celebratory year. We got our first house just a few months ago, we just got a new vehicle and we’re supposed to be celebrating the new addition of our twins and now it just seems like everything is in a tailspin.”

When the mother was placed in a medically induced coma, Steven was forced to stop working as a long-Haul Truck Driver to care for the other children. The older children are also infected with the virus.

“It’s heartbreaking when I see their fac[ial] expressions when I go in there,” Logan said. “It’s not like they are upset to see me, but they were expecting mommy.”

Steven has set up a GoFundMe, hoping to raise $75,000 to provide for the family of seven.  He notes on the crowdfunding page, “Some of our family and friends have tried to assist me with babysitting but are limited due to the contagiousness of the virus and their own obligations.”

He is hoping that the public will come through on Giving Tuesday, with a Christmas miracle. At the time of publishing, family, friends and kind strangers have contributed close to $65,000.  To contribute, please click here.
