Former Kaizer Chiefs fullback Joseph Molangoane is one of several players in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) finding themselves having to look for new clubs.

The 32-year-old ended what started off as a promising career at Naturena earlier in the month, when his contract was not renewed.

This is after a lengthy injury spell which saw him manage just a single senior appearance in the past two season.

Where to next for Joseph Molangoane?

His recent injury history, along with his relatively advanced age, could be seen as enough to deter some suitors but, according to the man himself, he has attracted a fair bit of interest from other clubs since his Kaizer Chiefs exit.

“There have been a few clubs, but I don’t want to talk on their behalf,” Molangoane is quoted as saying by the Daily Sun.

“I’m 100% fine and I can give twice as much

“I’m dying to be back on the field and play football. “I still have confidence and mentally I’m good. Now it’s just to wait for this season to be completed and see what the future holds.”

Molangoane suffered a horrific ankle injury during the 2018 MTN 8 Cup, when he came off second best in a challenge with Free State Stars’ Makhehleni Makhaula.

The game proved to be his last involvement in competitive action, as he sat out the rest of the season.

During the 2019/20 campaign, Chiefs reported that he was making progress with regard to the injury, and he eventually returned to full-contact training.

However, he was unable to penetrate the starting XI upon his return to full fitness, and the season was interrupted by a lengthy hiatus.

With many player contracts ending on 30 June, he was one of three players let go by Amakhosi, along with Kabelo Mahlasela and George Maluleka.

Molangoane says he had made peace with the decision not to renew his contract.

“It is part of football life, but I’m fine with it,” he said, following his Chiefs exit.
