Lil Yachty received the all-star NBA 2k23 treatment, joining a line of rappers before him who received the honor of becoming a playable character by getting his very own Lil Yachty MyTEAM card.

NBA 2k and Yachty unveiled the feature on Thursday, which will be available in the game’s MyTEAM mode Crossover series.

“A dream I couldn’t live out in real life is finally happening.. I’m hoopin .. I told dem I play like @shai … no kiippp lol,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram.

J. Cole, Polo G, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne and Jack Harlow became characters for fans to access in the MyTeam Crossover series earlier this year, all given 89 ratings. You could say the honor is proof of Yachty’s continuing rise in music stardom.

“I think it’s sick. I mean, obviously, I’m still flexing, but… I think it’s great if I could share this greatness with the world because it’s too much greatness,” the Georgia native said when asked what getting his own MyTEAM card would mean to him.

Known for hits like “One Night” and “Minnesota,” as well as his Grammy Award-nominated song “Broccoli,” Yachty’s new album saw him taking his music in a different direction. Let’s Start Here was a pivot from the traditional rap we know him for into, as Pitchfork described, “a highly manicured and expensive blend of Tame Impala-style psych-rock, A24 synth-pop, loungey R&B, and Silk Sonic-esque funk.”

“I wanted to be taken seriously as an artist… not just some SoundCloud rapper, not some mumble rapper…,” he told fans at a surprise listening event in January,

He proved to do just that, much to his recent success, with a performance of “drive ME crazy!” and “the BLACK seminole” off the fifth studio album during his long-awaited appearance as a musical guest for Saturday Night Live earlier this month.

“I’d like a height modification; raise it up a couple of inches. Preferably LeBron arms?” The Grammy Award nominee laughed as he said, “I wanna look like LeBron with my face, you know what I’m saying?” Yachty had joked with BR before making his character official.

Instead, Lil Boat’s character shares his iconic beaded braids as he sports what appears to be Travis Scott Air Jordan 1s and dons the number 21. Fans can pick from a variety of rappers at this point, with the record producer one of many vying to be their choice.

Fans will be able to earn Lil Yachty’s 89 overall player card for a limited time by completing his Spotlight Challenge.
