Tragedy has once again struck Louisville, Kentucky with the fatal shooting of Hamsa “Travis” Nagdy, a prominent figure during the protests for Breonna Taylor.
Christina Moynagh, the 21-year old’s mother, shared in a Facebook post that Nagdy was was fatally shot in a carjacking on Monday.
“It is with a heavy and broken heart that I tell you my Beautiful and Intelligent son Travis Nagdy has been tragically killed in a carjacking,” the grieving mom wrote.

WAVE 3 News reported the incident happened shortly after midnight on Monday. Friends told the news outlet that Nagdy was headed to protest another officer-related shooting in the city.
Nagdy played an important role during recent protests in Louisville, often showing up to fight for justice with a bullhorn and his signature bushy, curly mane.
His comrade, Jacoby Morris, spoke about the impact he had on the community and how his work was finished.
“It was an honor and privilege to work by Travis,” Morris told WAVE 3. “I think God opened the gates and said, ‘Well done, Travis. Come on home.’”
Nagdy’s final, foreboding Facebook post, written minutes before he was shot, further proved that he was always ready to stand for justice.
“All hands on deck 22nd & Gilligan,” were his final words online.

News of the beloved activist’s tragic death spread quickly on Twitter.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help with Nagdy’s funeral costs. The original ask of $15,000 has almost been doubled, according to the fundraising site. Police have no suspects at this time.
