THE 2022 CENSUS RUNS FROM MAY 17 THROUGH TO SEPTEMBER.

Staff at the Central Statistical Office all turned out in green on Friday, May 13, to promote the 2022 National Population and Housing Census. It will be the first paperless census in the history of Saint Lucia—the first time the census has gone green.

The National Housing and Population Census is aimed at providing policymakers with data on living conditions around the island. The information collected is critical for government planners to determine the challenges faced by residents and how they can be prioritized and addressed.

The Central Statistical Office also conducted an islandwide roadshow on Saturday, May 14. The objective of the roadshow was to inform residents that from May 17, enumerators from around the island will be going door to door to conduct the National Housing and Population Census.

Over 500 enumerators will fan out across the country conducting the census. The census questionnaire is designed to gather information that will help determine the island’s current population and provide details on conditions of living.  All information gathered will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The 2022 National Housing and Population Census will continue through to September and possibly beyond that to ensure all dwellings on the island are visited. Saint Lucians are urged to cooperate with enumerators when the census starts on May 17.
