Rihanna, Beyonce, and Serena Williams Make Forbes’ ‘Richest Self-Made Women Under 40’ List

Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty, just a little over a year ago, was certified by Forbes as the wealthiest female musician in the world. More than a year later, Rihanna has made Forbes’ “Richest Self-Made Women Under 40” list for the first time.

The 32-year-old singing entrepreneur has made a big business splash in the fashion and cosmetics world with her Fenty line. She’s also making a significant difference with her charitable organization, Clara Lionel Foundation, which has donated $22.5 million just for coronavirus relief. In April, she joined forces with Google and the Schusterman Family Foundation to donate $100 million in another coronavirus-related charitable effort.

Beyoncé Knowles, whom you also may have heard of, also made the list with her net worth coming in at $420 million.

Just last month, Knowles partnered with the NAACP, donating $1 million in additional funds to help Black-owned small businesses. Earlier this year, the singer released a surprise single, “Black Parade,” on Juneteenth. Along with the release of the single, she launched an initiative that supports Black-owned businesses.

Serena Williams’ net worth at $225 million had her coming in after Beyoncé.

Back in July, the Grand Slam champion told her followers she will be working with t-shirt manufacturer Bella+Canvas, the National School Board Association, and educational brand Scholastic to donate more than 4 million face masks to schools across the United States. The partnership will also provide classroom materials to more than 100,000 schools for 54 million children.

And just last month, Williams announced that proceeds from her Unstoppable capsule jewelry collection will go to the Opportunity Fund’s Small Business Relief Fund.

The Forbes list highlighting 13 women under 40 also includes entertainers such as Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, retired tennis star (and frequent Serena victim) Maria Sharapova, and reality stars Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian West.
