Chocolate has been part of some cultures for thousands of years and we love it even more today because there’s so much you can do with it. From cakes, to ice cream, coatings, drinks and even savoury dishes, chocolate has a place. One true favourite is the chocolate brownie but they come in a few styles like a cake brownie or one that has a fudge-like texture. These are simply decadent fudgy chocolate brownies that will become your new favourite.

Decadent fudgy chocolate brownies tips

A chocolate brownie is more than just a biscuit or melted chocolate cake, it’s pure decadence. A top tip when adding anything to warm eggs, ensure that you temper the eggs by pouring a tablespoon or two of the warm ingredients to the eggs to slowly bring the temperature up. You can still get creative and add some chocolate chips into the mixture but you can just decorate with them too. Serve them with some whipped cream or ice cream and if you’re adventurous, some flaky finishing salt.

A good brownie is hard to find, until you make it from this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 230 g 230 butter (melted)

  • 2 tbsp 2 coconut oil

  • 1 cup 1 treacle sugar

  • cup white sugar

  • 1 Tbsp 1 vanilla essence

  • 4 4 eggs

  • 1 cup 1 all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup 1 cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp 1 baking powder

  • 1 tsp 1 salt

  • mini mini marshmallows

  • ½ cup ½ dark/milk chocolate chips

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a 25cm x 25cm dish with baking paper.
  • Whisk the melted butter, oil and both sugars in a medium bowl until combined.
  • Add in the vanilla and eggs and whisk again for about 2 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, sift the dry ingredients together.
  • Slowly fold the sifted mixture into your wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Mix in your marshmallows and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the final mixture into your dish and bake in the oven at 180 for 20 minutes.
  • Turn the oven down to 150 and bake for a further 20 minutes.

Notes

  • Let the brownies cool before cutting them and dust with icing sugar for a pretty finish!
