The National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), led by Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will address the media and the rest of the nation on Friday afternoon to discuss the nitty-gritty of the Level 1 lockdown regulations, which were first made public by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday – But what time does the live stream start, we hear you ask?
What time will the NCCC start their briefing on Level 1 restrictions?
Strap yourselves in for a 14:00 start. Various ministers will also get the chance to discuss changes concerning their own departments, but it will be Dlamini-Zuma ruling the roost. She will deliver the key speech that will eventually form part of the government’s gazetted regulations, set to come into force from Monday 21 September.
“Following the address to the nation by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday 16 September 2020, on progress in the national effort to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. Ministers who serve in the National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) will brief the media on the regulations relating to the COVID-19 Level 1 restrictions.”

What’s up for discussion?
Curfew limits, international travel, and even lighter restrictions on alcohol are all up for discussion on Friday. South Africa may be moving forward at a rapid pace, but that doesn’t mean a free-for-all will ensue. Mask-wearing, social distancing, and limits on crowds and gatherings will still be in place during Level 1.
This could be one of the more positive briefings we’ve had from the NCCC since the start of the pandemic. But Mzansi is not out of the woods yet, and citizens are still being implored to follow the rules and keep themselves safe.
