Three people were rescued on Friday morning when parts of Florida Lake, Soweto and Eldorado Park in Johannesburg experienced flooding.
According to City of Johannesburg Emergency Medical Services (EMS) spokesperson Xolile Khumalo, a man was rescued in Florida when his vehicle became trapped in water. The man managed to escape and climb up a tree. He was treated for hypothermia, Khumalo added.
In Kliptown, Soweto, another person was rescued from a vehicle after it became caught in rising water on a bridge. The person was not injured, Khumalo said.

In a third incident, a wall collapsed at a property in Naledi, Soweto.
"The EMS team rescued an 88-year-old woman in Naledi where a wall had fallen. The woman has been taken to hospital for treatment; it is alleged that she might have [swallowed] dirty water," Khumalo said.
Several roads have been closed due to the flooding, including Christiaan de Wet Road and Goldman Street.
South African Weather Service (SAWS) forecaster, Ishmael Moyo, said there was a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers in the city on Friday, and that they were likely to occur in the afternoon.
He said no weather warnings had been issued for Johannesburg on Friday, but that the organisation was monitoring the situation.
SAWS also warned of a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers for most parts of the country.
Moyo said the rainy conditions were expected to persist over the weekend.
"No warning has been issued yet, so for now, we will continue to monitor the situation going forward today, but we do expect wet conditions and significant rainfall," he added.
