Lionel Richie doesn’t know how he made it through his daughter Nicole Richie’s party days back in the early aughts.

While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, the American Idol judge reflected on his oldest daughter’s party days and how difficult it was to father an it-girl.

Barrymore mentioned that she and Nicole were a part of the same “wolf pack” back in the early 2000s before noting, “I think Nicole and I have figured out how to have so much fun and then pull it together and be really good moms.”

Richie then said he doesn’t know how he endured his daughter, Barrymore and socialite Paris Hilton’s infamous antics.

“If I lived through that, I can live through anything,” he replied.

The “All Night Long” crooner recalled getting late-night phone calls from the police about Nicole, including when motorists spotted her driving down the wrong side of the freeway.

Richie admitted to Barrymore that he was surprised at how “perfectly” they all turned out before Barrymore noted they “got it all out of [their] systems.”

“I love hearing it from your side of the story. So let me give you my side of the story,” Richie said. “You all almost killed me. I’m so glad you got it out of your system. I almost cut my system off.”

The singer remarked, “I was somewhere between meditation and medication,” regarding how he got through those crazy times.

The conversation ended with Richie kissing Barrymore on the cheek and telling her, “You’re doing very well.”
