Favourite cousins dead at 90

Dear Editor,

Away from the dirty business of Guyanese politics, I am sad to report the deaths of two of my favourite cousins – Elaine Smith and Peter Vyfhuis. Both at the age of 90, one in England, the other in Canada. Two weeks apart. They were put in the same crib as babies and it is ironic that they have ended up in the same crib in death. Elaine was a wonderful generous woman to her death – she donated £1000 from her 90th party to the St Ann’s Orphanage, next door to her old School St Rose’s. Peter, who worked as an overseer for Bookers at Wales Estate, was a true gentleman.

Both will be sorely missed by me and all of my extended family.

Yours faithfully,

John ‘Bill Cotton/Reform’ Mair
