This was disclosed by Calvin Allen, a member of the coaching staff yesterday during a brief interview with Stabroek Sport. The lawmen secured seven players from two-time defending champion Fruta Conquerors, with one player emanating from Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Uitvlugt respectively.

They are Eon Alleyne, Jahaal Greaves, Threvnon Pluck, Osafo Simpson, Simeon Moore, Sherwin Skeete and Cecil Jackman of Fruta Conquerors, with Delwyn Fraser of GDF and Daniel Floy of Uitvlugt, also making the journey to the Eve Leary-based institution.

According to Allen, the management team is very pleased with the acquisition of the nine players who will integrate with the Elite League and B-Team for their respective future campaigns. He further said, “Definitely we are quite satisfied with the players that we brought in, it’s a mixture of experience and youth. Several players have national experience both at the U20 and Senior level and the fact is that we are not only looking to compete in the Elite League but our B-Team in whatever tournament they might take part in, likewise the ladies. In a sense the Guyana Police Force is looking to compete on every front in a meaningful way and not just to be part of the tournament, we are looking to win championships at every level. That is the aim of the coaching staff, players and executives.”

He further posited that the aim is to improve on their penultimate placement in the previous campaign and that the acquisition of the recent cadre of players will provide that platform. Allen posited that while quality opposition is ever present in the league, the team is in a good position to achieve respectable results.

He added, “As a young club we know it’s tough and we have the likes of back-to-back champions Fruta Conquerors, GDF, the mighty Western Tigers, Den Amstel and a vibrant Santos team to contest, so after finishing second to last in the previous campaign, we looking to better that by a long way this season and hopefully we can get some football soon. In essence and after analyzing the entirety of our last two transfer windows, I think we are now in a good position with youth, quality and experience in every position in all three teams. We are preparing to give it a go and have respectable results at the end of the season.”
