Sun City’s Valley of Waves set to open just before Heritage Day

The facility has been closed since the beginning of lockdown and after a recent upgrade to all the wave generating mechanisms, the Sun City water park will once again welcome guests in September.  

Water-based fun for the whole family at Sun City

Located in the iconic Sun City, a few minutes’ drive from Pilanesberg National Park in the North West, the Valley of Waves water park is a legendary hub for all kinds of water fun.

The park’s main attraction is a 6,500-square-metre wave pool known as the Roaring Lagoon that has two-metre-high waves generated by hydraulic mechanisms that break on a sandy beach, 120 metres away.

The park also has a variety of other water-based rides, thrilling slides, several swimming pools, and a lazy river with a non-stop tube ride around an island, and there is a designated children’s area for young kids. The park has plenty of lifeguards on duty and is open to both Sun City resort guests and day visitors.  

Opening just in time for Heritage Day

Sun City General Manager Brett Hoppé is thrilled that they will be ready to open their doors for the Heritage Day public holiday on the 24 September.

“The Valley of Waves is one of our most popular attractions, so we’re delighted that we can open it in time for Heritage Day. We have been inundated with enquiries from people wanting to know when it will reopen.”

The Valley of Waves will operate normally between 9am and 6pm on Wednesday, 23^rd for both the public and residents of Sun City.

From the Heritage Day Public Holiday on 24 September through to Saturday, 26 September, the facility will be open to all residents and visitors between 9am and 5pm. It will reopen between 6pm and 9pm for the exclusive use of hotel guests and Sun Vacation Club residents.

Operating hours will return to 9am until 6pm from Sunday, 27 September.
