The South African Isono actress Zola Nombona will join the ever-growing cast of Generations: The Legacy.

Entertainment alert: Zola Nombona

Generations: The Legacy has made waves as one of South Africa’s most popular soapies created and produced by Mfundi Vundla. It is a remake of the soap opera Generations, also created and produced by Vundla, but with different characters, different settings and different tones.

In a nutshell, the soapie is a place where drama, suspense and intrigue are the name of the game when you’re up against enemies you don’t even know you have.

Now, according to entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, Zola will be playing a journalist by the name of Pamela – Siyanda’s (Kay Sibiya) estranged wife. In the soapie, he is also a journalist who uncovers many of Jack Mabaso’s filth.

A dream come true

According to ZAlebs, after spending years in the acting industry Zola got excited when she landed her first gig acting in a telenovela. She bagged a role on BET’s Isono playing the character Zoleka Sigcawu. Speaking to Daily Sun at the time she said, “It’s been a very interesting ride and I’m enjoying it. I feel fortunate and blessed to be able to tap into these different types of mediums when it comes to acting, whether it’s theatre or a location-based series or telenovela.”

What is the most-watched soapie in SA?

In June 2020, it was reported that Generations: The Legacy is South Africa’s most-watched TV show according to TAMS ratings. The popular SABC 1 soapie, which stars Connie Ferguson, Vusi Kunene, Rapulana Seiphemo, and others, had the highest number of viewers in May 2020 – with over eight million viewers. This means Generations replaced Uzalo, which has been at the top for months. The IsiZulu telenovela is now at number two with 7.9 million viewers. Meanwhile, Skeem Saam came in at number three with 7 million viewers.
