2nd Annual Chicago 1919 Race Riot Bike Tour

The Chicago Race Riot of 1919 Commemoration Project, Organic Oneness, and supporting partners will be commemorating the 101st anniversary of the Chicago 1919 Race Riot, Saturday, July 25, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The educational tour will begin at the Green Line Entrance on 35th Street (Bronzeville-IIT Station). Riders will learn about the drowning of 17-year-old Eugene Williams. He accidentally crossed over an invisible line at a segregated beach that ignited one of the bloodiest riots known as Red Summer.

The two-hour tour will be an unforgettable day riding through Bronzeville, Brideport, and Canaryville to stop and see notable sites associated with the riot and the rich history of the Chicago South Side.

To register, go to  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/crr19-bike-tour-tickets-111904681916?fbclid=IwAR2WqaJhUS530pLI9ewHig6dHSJwu6PpLt8CMKmWRWfCkB-CWHcadzndXIY. The event is free to the public, and donations are accepted. Donations $25.00 or more will receive a Chicago Race Riot 1919 shirt at the check-in table. In the event of inclement weather, the ride will be held Sunday, July 26, 2020.  Riders are encouraged to wear a helmet, mask, and practice social distancing.
