The connection between singer Ciara and her Seattle Seahawks quarterback husband, Russell Wilson, is undeniable and very infectious. The couple, who recently welcomed baby number three, have launched their maiden fragrance in a one of a kind interlocked magnetic sculptured glass bottle that not only reflects their connection but how the two unique scents work well together.
“To do life together is the greatest gift, and to be able to create our first fragrance together was a dream come true,” says Ciara and Russell in a written statement.
“We are special on our own, but there is nothing more powerful and more magnetic than when we are together and that is reflected in the entire package from the bottle design to the blends inside.”
Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the couple had plenty of time together at home with their two kids and pregnant Ciara at the time. Their in-house date nights were always fun and romantic as they used most of the time in curating the unique smells for the R&C Fragrance Duo.
“We couldn’t do date night like we normally would, so we would have our unique date nights at home, and smelling our scents were really fun and sweet process. We would do challenges with each other to see if we could remember which scent was which one we liked.”
“Quarantining with two kids at the time and Ciara being pregnant, you need to find your ways to keep it sexy, keep it fun, and have a great time while doing it,” Russell adds.
Ciara was the creative lead on the ‘C’ fragrance which has undertones of pink peppercorn, red berries, jasmine, musk, sandalwood, and more. The long-lasting smell leaves the wearer feeling refreshed and sensual. “You smell like you just stepped fresh out of the shower. But then there’s this little extra touch that adds a sexy to it, adds a signature smell to it,” notes Ciara.
The power couple have had a love for fragrance since their childhood as they both have fond memories of its use when they were younger. For Ciara, she vividly remembers her grandmother’s perfume collection and truly admired her Nana’s love for the different fragrances.
For Russell, fond memories of his late father’s ritual after shaving where he would apply cologne as he got ready for the day is one ritual he still practices today.
According to Russell, his ‘R’ scent is “effortlessly sexy.” It has notes of bergamot and a woody aromatic scent layered with ambroxan, black tea, lavender, pear blossom, waterlily, patchouli, musk, and vetiver.
The two can be worn separately or layered beautifully by the wearer. “They’re independently sexy by themselves but also have a beautiful connection [to each other],” Russell explains.
The fragrance was launched on November 17 and goes for $90 per each 50ml bottle with proceeds of the sale going to their non-profit founded in 2014, Why Not You Foundation. According to the R&C Fragrance website, the foundation is dedicated to education, children’s health and fighting poverty and most importantly empowering the youth to lead with a Why Not You Attitude.
