The Dube Birds looked to be heading for just their second defeat of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season in their clash with Golden Arrows over the Easter weekend before a 94th minute goal from captain Vuyo Mere secured a point.

It was the club’s 12th draw in 20 matches, leaving them in sixth place in the standings.

As they prepare to face bottom-side Black Leopards this weekend, Brandon Truter explained his side really should have claimed all three points.

He said in the Sowetan: “Again, in the 94th minute and I think it’s in our DNA now, 94th minute to score a goal. It’s in our character, we don’t give up, but sometimes it’s not good for the heart.

“We managed to sneak a point again but it’s not good enough at home, we should have picked up three points.

“In the boys’ defence, they worked hard and they wanted it as well. I can’t fault them for the performance and their effort on the field but ja, it’s not what we wanted.

“A draw again, the 12th one but we’ll take it. It’s a point forward and we’re one of six or seven teams that can start planning for next season and not think about relegation.”
