Apologies to Alim Hosein

Dear Editor,

My sincere apologies for omitting to mention Alim Hosein’s contribution to the visual arts through commentaries in the newspapers. I am aware of the dangers of making public statements especially when not living in the land and having to depend on memory and notes made decades ago. In my eagerness to respond to Al Creighton’s article I did omit his contributions but not in a deliberate conscious manner. It was good to receive a reminder that Hosein’s articles did continue the work of the late Basil Hinds.

I would hope and recommend for the sake of the history of the Visual Arts in Guyana that

Mr Hosein seriously consider a publication of his past articles. I would most certainly be an interested and informed reader.

The University has established a publication unit which means it would be possible for

him to submit an illustrated text for publication. This would be an invaluable unique document to

inform artists, historians, art lovers, students and the general population not only nationally but

regionally and internationally as well.

Yours faithfully,

Stanley Greaves
