Maryland’s statewide rate for positive coronavirus tests has hit a new low.
The governor’s office released statistics Thursday showing that the state’s percentage of positive tests had fallen to 3.83% Wednesday, putting its seven-day average at 4.03%, WTOP reported.
The weekly average is the lowest level since the pandemic began.
The reduced rates come in the wake of Gov. Larry Hogan’s announcement last week that masks now must be worn inside all gyms, casinos, restaurants, bars and office buildings. The state order has already been in effect at grocery stores and for public transit.
In addition, masks must be worn in outdoor public areas when social distancing isn’t possible.
Hogan also placed an advisory on out-of-state travel to states with a positivity rate above 10%.
As of Thursday, Maryland has roughly 93,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 3,415 deaths, according to state statistics.
