Cops probing suspected drowning of epileptic Canal No. 1 pastor

The police are investigating the suspected drowning of a pastor, whose lifeless body was discovered in a creek close to his farm at Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Thursday night.

Dead is Maurice Wilson, 53, who was also a farmer of Vauxhall, Canal Number One.Wilson, who had epilepsy, is believed to have drowned sometime between 6am and 6pm Thursday. According to the Guyana Police Force, its investigations revealed that on Thursday Wilson’s wife accompanied him up to L’Oire Backdam, Canal Number One, after which he continued his journey to his farm, which is situated close to the Number One Canal road.

Around 6.40pm on the same day, the police said, Wilson’s wife became worried after he failed to return home.

As a result, she contacted a family friend, who immediately formed a search party.

According to the police, less than an hour after, Wilson’s lifeless body was found floating in a creek situated on the western side of his farm. The police were summoned and Wilson body was examined. There were no visible marks of violence.
