Constituents in Clarendon Northern have been expressing dissatisfaction with the performance of Horace Dalley as their representative.

On two visits to the constituency, residents told The Gleaner that the majority of the communities lacked potable water, quality roads, and Internet connectivity.

Kellits resident Hyacinth Johnson complained that the constituency did not have a proper medical facility to adequately cater to the needs of the residents.

“From I was a toddler until now – big ol’ lady – it’s the same. Nothing changed,” she told The Gleaner.

“We have a clinic. Let me tell you, you have to get out of your bed from 4 o’ clock to get a ticket and the clinic not opening until 8:30 a.m.,” Johns0n added as she spoke outside of her house as a Jamaica Labour Party motorcade passed by.

“We need more doctors to work at the clinic,” she added.

Another resident, who gave her name as ‘Princess’ and who had been sitting along the roadway to Bunker’s Hill along with men who said they were farmers, lashed Dalley, who is seeking a seventh term as a member of parliament.

“Dalley who? Not even my daughter me would give Dalley!” Princess hissed as she turned to the men sitting beside her.

She complained that near-three-decade representation by Dalley, a former minister of Government, should have yielded better results for the constituency.

Aside from the need for infrastructural works, residents complained bitterly about the lack of job opportunities.

In his defence, Dalley told The Gleaner that he has enabled multiple farmers to take up employment on the overseas farm work programme.

He added that he has also been instrumental in sending students to university through scholarship programmes and his Constituency Development Fund allocation.
