Special to The Dallas Examiner

The Dallas Chapter of The Links Inc. will honor eight women with a Women Who STEAM Award during its 2020 Women Who STEAM Awards Luncheon, Aug. 28. This will be the second year for the group’s award luncheon. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will be a virtual event.

The awards recognize outstanding women in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics who exemplify extraordinary contributions in their fields while also serving, teaching, excelling, aspiring and mentoring – or STEAM – within their workplaces and communities.

The chapter’s signature STEAM Academy for 7th through 12th grade female scholars of color is in its 8th year of cultivating self-confidence, critical thinking and leadership capabilities by engaging scholars in exciting activities that promote and support innovation, creativity and problem-solving skills. The organization strives to cultivate young female scholars, championing diversity and inclusion in STEAM fields, celebrating the contributions of women of color in STEAM fields and conveying this award to inspire and ignite young girls of color to pursue careers in STEAM.
