Shirley Ann Lake-Day

Shirley Ann Lake-Day, 77, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 30, 2022.

Lake-Day was born on July 4, 1944 in Galveston, Texas to the late Rufus Lake and Jeffie Lee Lake. As a child, the family moved to Seattle, Washington where she graduated from Garfield High School. Lake-Day furthered her studies and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce College, now Wilberforce University.

Lake-Day became a school teacher for the Seattle Public School system, where she had an exemplary teaching career spanning over 30 years. Lake-Day made a profound impact on many of her students.

In 1970, Lake-Day married her former husband, Arthur Day; through their union she became the proud mother of two sons, Dr. Pepper Day and Jeffrey Day.

After her retirement, Lake-Day, the constant learner, spent her free time reading and learning to play the piano.  She also loved documentaries.

Lake-Day was predeceased by her parents, Rufus and Jeffie Lee Lake, and her brothers Louis Lake and Tyrone Lake (Drea). She is survived by her two adult sons Pepper Day (Chantel) and Jeffrey Day; her brother Haley Lake (Barbara); three grandchildren Autumn, Sage, and Hendrix, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
