Charlestown businessman shot and robbed by armed gunmen

A Charlestown businessman was shot twice and robbed of $200,000 after four men invaded his premises on Wednesday afternoon.

Police yesterday said that the businessman, David Cameron, 56, of 81 Howes Street, Charlestown, was pounced upon by four unidentified males, two of whom were armed with handguns.

The robbery occurred just after 5:30pm.

According to police, Cameron was in his cold storage bond, which is attached to the eastern side of the lower flat of his building, when the perpetrators rushed into the bond, brandishing their guns. The armed robbers shot Cameron twice, in his abdomen and right thigh, and ransacked the bond before escaping with the cash.

Cameron was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and admitted for gunshot wounds. His condition is regarded as serious.

No arrest has been made and police investigations are continuing.
